FIT Europe Seminar 2011, Bucharest “Working Together to Mutual Benefit / Travailler ensemble pour un bénéfice mutuel”, 18 November 2011
The International Federation of Translators (FIT) is an international federation of associations of translators, interpreters, and terminologists gathering more than 100 associations from all over the world. Its purpose is to promote professionalism in the disciplines it represents. FIT is also concerned with the conditions of professional practice in various countries and strives to defend translators’ rights in particular and freedom of expression in general. FIT maintains formal operational relations with UNESCO.
FIT Europe is one of the regional centres of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs / International Federation of Translators (FIT/IFT). It unites some 49 associations of translators, interpreters, terminologists and other language specialists right across Europe.
The mission of FIT Europe is to further the interests of these language professionals in Europe. To that end, FIT Europe serves as a forum for exchanging information, experience and best practice, finding solutions to shared problems and agreeing on measures to heighten public awareness of this profession.
The Romanian Translators Association (ATR) was founded in 2004. Its mission is to promote and represent, at national and international level, Romanian translators, interpreters and terminologists; to protect their rights and interests; to promote high-quality standards in translation in the Romanian professional milieu. ATR is a full member of FIT and EULITA.
